Spiritual Formation

our

pathway

Our Pathway defines the process of spiritual formation at Wake. It answers the crucial question: How are we intentionally forming our people into fully devoted disciples of Jesus? Whether through personal discipleship or within the broader church community, this pathway guides our growth. When we look to Scripture, we see these key areas consistently present in the life of a disciple. They’re not just steps to follow- they are markers of transformation.

Our goal is simple

to cultivate disciples who are not just informed by the Gospel but formed by it.

Formation happens with repetition

eyes opened

“The eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know the hope to which he has called you.” (Ephesians 1:18)

The disciple’s journey begins as God opens their spiritual eyes to the truth of the Gospel, revealing the depth of their need for salvation and the beauty of Christ.

spirit renewed

“He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:5)

Through faith in Christ, the Holy Spirit renews the heart, bringing new life, transforming desires, and empowering the believer to live in alignment with God’s purposes.

heart surrendered

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)

Discipleship deepens as the heart is fully surrendered to God, marked by humility, obedience, and a willingness to follow Jesus no matter the cost.

minds transformed

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)

The disciple’s mind is continually shaped by Scripture and the Holy Spirit, shifting from worldly patterns to Kingdom thinking, rooted in the truth of God’s Word.

hands opened

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” (Colossians 3:23)

A transformed disciple lives with open hands, ready to serve others with generosity, compassion, and a heart that reflects the love of Christ in action.

feet guided

“The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way.” (Psalm 37:23)

As a disciple matures, their life is guided by the Spirit, walking in obedience to God’s call, advancing the Gospel, and living on mission wherever He leads.
