mission

we exist to wake people up to new life in christ by making disciples who make disciples

At the heart of our mission is a passion for spiritual renewal in Conroe and beyond. We believe renewal happens when individuals awaken to the full implications and transformative depth of the Gospel. As hearts are revived, the lost are drawn to the beauty of Christ, and the Church moves on mission with renewed purpose.

our vision is to reach 1% of the greater Houston area by planting churches that plant churches

starting with Conroe, TX

Conroe is one of the top ten fastest-growing cities in the Country and ranked the fastest growing city in the US over the last 3 years. It is filled with a diverse makeup of people. In fact, 30% of the residents were born in a foreign country. More than 50% of the Conroe population has no affiliation with a local church. We see Conroe as the starting point for this endeavor.

our

pillars

the rhythms of our church

Our pillars are rooted in Scripture and serve as the foundation that keeps us focused on our mission and vision. They are not just guiding principles; they shape who we are and how we live out the Gospel. Our pillars work together to create lasting spiritual impact.

Enjoy God

temple

Derived from John Piper’s revision of the Westminster Catechism:” The chief end of man is to glorify God by enjoying Him forever.”

We believe that God is most gloried in us when we are most satisfied in Him. Enjoying God is not a passive feeling but an active pursuit. Through worship, prayer, and daily communion with Him, we experience the fullness of joy found only in His presence. This is the heart of discipleship—delighting in God as our ultimate treasure.

Find family

table

Rooted in the early church’s devotion to one another and their mission to spread the Gospel.

The early church wasn’t just a gathering; it was a family. They shared life, carried each other’s burdens , and were unied in purpose. We believe spiritual growth happens best in authentic community, where people are known, loved, and challenged. Finding family means we cultivate relationships that reflect the Gospel in all of our ministries —marked by grace, truth, and mission.

Love People

to the ends

Anchored in Jesus’ teachings: “ By this everyone will know that you are My disciples—if you love one another.” (John 13:35)

Loving people isn’t just an action; it’s the evidence of our discipleship. Jesus defined the distinguishing mark of His followers—not by knowledge, Jesus status, or success—but by how we love. This love is sacrificial, unconditional, and transformative. It moves us beyond comfort to serve, forgive, and embody the heart of Christ to a watching world.

These pillars are not separate tasks— they are a unified rhythm.

Prayer is the wind in our sails

our

culture

FAMILY

As we look to the early church throughout history, we see the family of God being formed—a family that made a profound impact on the world around them. At Wake, we are committed to creating that same sense of belonging and purpose. Everything we do should feel like family because we are, at our core, part of God’s family. That’s why we’re not just building programs-we’re forming a family. As we live this out, we’ll see these six marks of a Gospel-shaped family emerge in everything we do.

Freely Gives

We joyfully and sacrificially give our time, talents, and treasures.

With Jesus, we have everything; without Him, we have nothing. Because of this truth, we gladly sacrifice our time to serve the Church and those around us. We steward our talents not for personal gain but to glorify God, recognizing that everything we have is a gift from Him to be used for His purposes.

Affirms & Corrects

We encourage spiritual gifts and offer gentle correction for growth.

True community thrives on both affirmation and correction. While encouragement is easy to receive, correction is often challenging—but both are essential for spiritual maturity. In love and humility, we call one another to pursue Christ over sin, speaking truth with grace. We celebrate growth when we see it, spurring each other on to run the race of faith with endurance.

Matures Together

We passionately pursue Christ individually and grow in faith collectively.

Salvation is personal, but it’s never meant to be private. When we are saved, we are adopted into the body of Christ. We are not alone in this journey. As the Church, we grow together, carry each other’s burdens, and serve side by side. It is within the context of authentic community that God shapes us into who He has called us to be.

Invest Beyond

We are disciple-makers who multiply for future generations.

Our vision extends beyond today. We live with eternity in mind, understanding that the choices we make now shape the Church of tomorrow. We invest in the next generation, equipping them to carry the Gospel farther than we ever could. It’s not about building our own kingdom—it’s about advancing His Kingdom to the ends of the earth.

Loves Intentionally

We love like Jesus. We serve like Jesus.

Life is messy, and so are we. Though Christ has saved us and continues to sanctify us, we are still in process—wrestling with sin and brokenness until the day we meet Him face to face. Because we’ve been shown radical grace, we extend that grace to others. We forgive freely, love unconditionally, and walk alongside one another through every season. We love without exception because Christ loved us without condition.

Yields Fruit

We abide in Christ to produce lasting fruit.

Following Jesus isn’t about titles or achievements—it’s about transformation. As we abide in Him, we die to our old selves and live for His purposes. Each day, we choose to say “no” to sin and “yes” to glorify God in every word, thought, and action. The fruit we bear isn’t from our own effort; it’s the natural result of being rooted in Christ, reflecting His righteousness to the world.

our

values

Our values are the anchor that keeps us rooted in our mission, vision, and culture.

1. Gospel Centrality: We Start with Jesus—Always

At Wake, Jesus is the center of everything we do. The Gospel is not just a message we preach; it’s the foundation we stand on. It’s the good news of who Jesus is, what He accomplished on the cross, and the life-changing power of His resurrection. We believe that following Jesus transforms us in real and lasting ways. He holds all things together, including our lives, our ministry, and our mission.

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation… and in Him all things hold together.” —Colossians 1:15-19

2. Biblical Community: We Are Devoted to Family

The life Jesus invites us into was never meant to be lived in isolation. We were created for community, and adopted into the family of God through Christ. s a Church, we are called to model authentic relationships—walking with one another through joys, struggles, and growth. True discipleship happens in the context of gospel-centered relationships that challenge, encourage, and help us grow into fully devoted followers of Jesus.

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer… All the believers were one in heart and mind.” —Acts 2:42-47; Acts 4:32-34

3. Missional Living: We Move To Love Others

Jesus didn’t call us to stay still—He called us to go. As a Church, we live with a mission mindset, intentionally engaging the people around us where we live, work, learn, and play. This means we both show the love of Christ through acts of service and compassion and share the message of the Gospel with boldness and clarity. We are disciple-makers, sent to make disciples.

“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them… and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” —Matthew 28:19-20

4. Kingdom Multiplication: We Never Stop Sending

Jesus didn’t just gather disciples—He multiplied them. At Wake, we are committed to raising up leaders, equipping the saints, and sending people out for the sake of the Gospel. We don’t measure success by how many people we gather, but by how many we send. Our goal is to build His Kingdom, not ours.

“He gave… apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ.” —Ephesians 4:11-16

5. Next Generation: We are Forming the Future

We believe that the next generation is not just the future of the Church—they are the Church right now. That’s why we invest deeply in children, students, and young leaders. As a Church, our role is to equip parents as the primary disciple-makers in the home and to create environments where young people can encounter Jesus, grow in faith, and live on mission. We’re not just raising kids; we’re forming the future.

“We sent Timothy… to strengthen and encourage you in your faith.” “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers.” —1 Thessalonians 3:2; 1 Timothy 4:12

our

pathway

Our Pathway defines the process of spiritual formation at Wake. It answers the crucial question: How are we intentionally forming our people into fully devoted disciples of Jesus? Whether through personal discipleship or within the broader church community, this pathway guides our growth. When we look to Scripture, we see these key areas consistently present in the life of a disciple. They’re not just steps to follow- they are markers of transformation.

Our goal is simple

to cultivate disciples who are not just informed by the Gospel but formed by it.

Formation happens with repetition

Six marks of a disciple

eyes opened

“The eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know the hope to which he has called you.” (Ephesians 1:18)

The disciple’s journey begins as God opens their spiritual eyes to the truth of the Gospel, revealing the depth of their need for salvation and the beauty of Christ.

spirit renewed

“He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:5)

Through faith in Christ, the Holy Spirit renews the heart, bringing new life, transforming desires, and empowering the believer to live in alignment with God’s purposes.

heart surrendered

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)

Discipleship deepens as the heart is fully surrendered to God, marked by humility, obedience, and a willingness to follow Jesus no matter the cost.

minds transformed

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)

The disciple’s mind is continually shaped by Scripture and the Holy Spirit, shifting from worldly patterns to Kingdom thinking, rooted in the truth of God’s Word.

hands opened

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” (Colossians 3:23)

A transformed disciple lives with open hands, ready to serve others with generosity, compassion, and a heart that reflects the love of Christ in action.

feet guided

“The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way.” (Psalm 37:23)

As a disciple matures, their life is guided by the Spirit, walking in obedience to God’s call, advancing the Gospel, and living on mission wherever He leads.

our

beliefs

Our Convictions

Core Christian beliefs that we understand to be the essence of Christianity.

1.

There is only one God, who exists eternally as a Trinity of three persons: Father, Son, and Spirit. Each member of the Trinity is fully and equally God, yet personally distinct from one another.

2.

God in the flesh, Jesus Christ, was crucified and died on the cross, was resurrected from the dead, and ascended to Heaven.

3.

The Holy Spirit comes to live within a person once they trust in Jesus as their Savior. He provides the Christian with power for living, an understanding of spiritual truth, guidance in doing what is right, and spiritual gifts to build the church and spread the gospel. The empowering of the Holy Spirit, the promise of the Father, is available for every Christian.

4.

God created men and women to live in relationship with him, but the first humans chose to rebel against God and brought sin in the world. Sin spread like a virus to all humans. All have sinned and that sin separates us from God.

5.

God created men and women in his image; that he made us to live forever. We will either exist eternally in community with God in Heaven through Jesus or exist eternally separated from God in Hell by rejecting Jesus.

6.

God loves the world, and by his grace delights and desires to grant forgiveness and eternal life to all who trust in Christ as their Savior. Jesus died on the cross as a perfect substitute for our penalty of sin and resurrected to overcome the death penalty caused by sin. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ—not being good enough or doing enough good—that a person can be restored to a right relationship with God.

7.

The Bible is God’s Word to us, written by men who were inspired by God. God wrote his Scriptures to reveal Himself to mankind, to communicate with us, and to direct us in His best way to live life.

8.

The Church is the Body of Christ consisting of believers worldwide, and that God has called believers to gather in local churches.

9.

Christ will return to earth to conclude history and restore God’s plan for mankind.

Our Persuasions

Beliefs about which we have persuasions, though recognizing many biblical Christians have drawn different conclusions.

1.

Spiritual Gifts

We believe all the spiritual gifts are valid for today (1 Corinthians 12-14; Ephesians 4; Romans 12). All gifts should be exercised within Biblical guidelines, with order, and under the leadership of the church and ministry involved. All spiritual gifts are given by God, and therefore all gifts are good. God gives gifts as He desires. No singular gift is necessary for or evidence of salvation.

2.

Evangelism
Every follower of Christ is an ambassador on behalf of Christ. Christ reveals himself to the world through his followers. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, believers will be witnesses of Jesus to the entire world. Evangelism is the role of all, not just a gift for some.

3.

Baptism
Baptism is a public confession of our faith by immersion, post-conversion. Jesus was baptized, he commanded his followers to be baptized, and told us to baptize others who follow him. The Greek word “baptizo” is the word used for baptism and means “immersion.” Baptism by immersion is a symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus

4.

Discipleship
Discipleship is the process of following and growing in our devotion and love of Jesus. Discipleship is the process of salvation that begins immediately after we trust in and receive Christ, and continues until we see Christ personally. Specifically, the beginning of our salvation is justification, the process of discipleship is sanctification, and the moment we see Jesus and remain with Him forever is glorification. Jesus made disciples. His main mandate to his followers was to go and make disciples. Discipleship is people leading people to know and love and follow Jesus.

5.

Women in Ministry
Men and women are created equal but not exactly alike. Men and women have unique designs, given by the Creator. Through our unique designs, we have been given unique roles. Men and women have similar giftings, but not similar roles. Scripture delineates between the roles of women and men in marriage, home and in church. Women are crucial in their role in the marriage and family, as they are in church. Marriage and family don’t exist without women, just as the church cannot exist without women fully functioning in their roles in the church. Scripture teaches that women lead in the church in a variety of ways, but God has reserved the roles of elders and overseers to men.

6.

Assurance of Salvation
Scripture makes clear that it is the privilege of all Christian believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation from the very moment in which they trust Christ as their Savior, and thereafter (1 John 5:11-12). This assurance is not based upon any kind of merit, but is produced by the witness of the Holy Spirit who conrms in the believer the testimony of God in His written Word (Rom. 8:15-16; 1 John 3:24).

7.

Predestination

All have sinned and cannot save themselves (Rom. 3:23). Jesus died for all, and God is drawing all people to Himself (John 12:31-33). Before the foundation of the world, God – who stands outside our continuum of time – foreknew who would place their faith in His Son, Jesus Christ (Rom. 8:29). We do not know who the “elect” are, but we preach the gospel so that all who hear can have an opportunity for salvation (Rom 10:11-15). We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone—not by any works or practices of our own. Jesus’ righteousness is given to us freely, and we then are innocent and blameless in God’s eyes, free to live in fellowship with Him forever.

8.

Communion

We believe the Lord’s Supper is a sacrament to be observed by the Church today, a means by which we experience God’s grace tangibly, though not a
requisite to salvation or church membership. We believe that Communion is an outward sign or symbol of the broken body and shed blood of Jesus Christ. While we do not believe that the bread and juice turn into the actual flesh and blood of Christ, we do believe that in Communion we experience
the very real presence and grace of Jesus Christ with us.

9.

Spiritual Warfare

Satan and demons exist. They were defeated through the cross but will not be destroyed until the Second Coming. Believers have authority in Jesus’ name over demonic powers. Believers may be oppressed by demons but not possessed. Prayer is essential for the Church.

Our Positions

Our stances on controversial issues in our culture today.

1.

Abortion

God is the Creator of life. He decides and designs all life he creates. He initiates, and it is his decision when life is ended. Scripture is clear, and science reveals this truth to us, that life begins at conception. We believe the life inside a mother’s womb is a living person (Ps. 139:13-16; Jer. 1:4-5) and, therefore, we believe that the act of abortion is incongruent with God’s will (Ex. 20:13). At the same time, ours is not a message of guilt for past choices, but of grace—knowing God oers full forgiveness to anyone who repents of their sin and turns to Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:7; Col. 2:13-15).

2.

Alchohol

While it is not a sin to drink to alcohol—Jesus made real wine out of water—Scripture teaches that alcohol has many dangers associated with its use. Therefore, believers should be careful in their consumption of alcohol. They should never become drunk (aected in their emotions or decisions) or
dependent on alcohol and should not rely on alcohol to meet their emotional needs (comfort, peace, happiness). Believers should also be cautious of when and where they consume alcohol to ensure that they are not damaging their
witness or discouraging anyone else in their faith. All “Wake” functions and events will be alcohol-free zones.

3.

Cohabitation

Scripture oers healthy guidelines for marriage between a man and a woman in terms of procreation (Gen 1:27-28), godly intimacy (Gen 2:18), the nurture of children (Mal. 2:15), and sexual activity (1 Cor. 7:2). Outside of marriage, the potential negative consequences of living together are many: lack of commitment, confused intentions, and emotional damage to adults and their children. Wake Church encourages resisting sexual temptation and choosing to live consistently with the counsel of Scripture. We at Wake Church are here to encourage, not condemn. We invite those currently cohabitating or considering a cohabitating relationship to get in touch with one of our pastors so we can help with premarital counseling. We heartily advocate marriage and stand ready to help couples facilitate and celebrate that life-changing commitment.

4.

Homosexuality

God created men and women out of his desire for design. In creation, physiologically, emotionally, sexually, etc. men and women are created differently to fit and function and fulfill purposes of their creation. Apart from obvious physiological signs, Scripture is clear that homosexuality is not God’s design or desire for sexual and marital relationships. We do not elevate homosexuality over other sins, but respond to homosexuality as we would all sins. We love, encouraging repentance and submission to Jesus. When necessary in the church, as with all unrepentant sins, we respond with biblical steps of correction and discipline.

5.

Divorce

The Bible says that God hates divorce (Mal. 2:14-16). But the good news is that God loves every divorced person, and so does Wake Church. God’s plan for marriage is that no husband and wife would ever divorce. Jesus did give an option for choosing and initiating divorce under the condition of an adulterous spouse. Jesus did not encourage divorce due to adultery, but gave an option due to the damage adultery inflicts on the offended spouse and on the covenant. Every person who is divorced is not accountable for the divorce. Just as one who has been sinned against by being robbed is not accountable for the sin of the robber, the one who had the sin of divorce committed against them is not accountable for the sin of the one who chose divorce. All persons in a marriage are sinners, and all persons will sin and be sinned against. Reconciliation
and repentance should be pursued in all matters of sin in a marriage. In the case of abuse, there should be separation for the sake of safety. We do not encourage a person to stay in an abusive situation and would consider abuse to be infidelity to the marriage covenant.
